If you are looking for a cute fall graphic novel, this is it ! This graphic novel is set in a pumpkin patch; where two best friends spend their last day working there (during their last year, as they are going to be heading to university). The art is delightful, it is truly atmospheric and makes you feel like this is a real place on earth, where those characters exist and live their lives.
The story was truly enjoyable, it is a very quick read and the only hiccup I had was not getting enough of them, I felt like something was missing; as I was reading the last page of this book it didn't feel like I was quite done with this story yet. I still had so many questions and so much more I wanted to see/know about them.
While I had a really good time reading it, there is a couple of instance where I felt it was going too fast and others too slow. The main characters do spend the evening together, trying to find Josiah's crush so that he can confess before the end of their last day there. Deja is an amazing friend that pushes him to find her before it's too late, to take his future in his hands and see if there's something that could happen between Fudge girl and him.
I loved the dynamic between Deja and Josiah and how they stopped for snacks along the way (Deja's side mission) and the overall friendship they shared.
The adventure across the pumpkin patch was really lovely and definitely put me in fall vibes as this season is starting.
I definitely recommend this read as it is perfect for fall and just perfect for setting the mood!
Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks truly delivered a beautiful story together and I hope they make many more for us in the future.
