First things first : A huge thank you again to the publisher Harlequin for providing me with a copy of this book.

This book was great.
There's no other way to put it, from the formatting to the way we jumped in time and places (always clearly stated in the top part of each chapter), to the way each character was so gradually fleshed out, it was wonderful.
I really enjoy historical fiction in the winter, it's just the perfect setting for most impactful stories and makes for a very atmospheric read. I really enjoyed how the author managed to mix such an emotional read with a great romantic (also tragic) story.
The way the story progresses, the wedding , how she slowly sees people become different from what she knew them to be and the slow progression of her husband scaring her.
The sisterhood between women trying to save as many Jewish people around them and how the world around them suddenly becomes this cold, untrusting and unsettling place.
While not perfect, it is a great way to start 2023.
I highly recommend this read.
